Arrival in Anacortes, WA on August 17, 2020

Yesterday we stopped at the Black Bear Diner in Redding, CA for lunch.  They have a tent outside with social distancing and a limited menu.  It was excellent as usual. We arrived on Monday, August 17th.  We are staying on Emerald Star while it is on the hard at North Harbor Diesel.    The weather is beautiful (compared to California).  We are glad to be where there is no smoke & heat.  We wish our friends and family there the best.  We will be shopping and stocking the boat for our very shortened summer cruising season.

We are actually heading north!

OK, we have had enough of being shut in in California.  Even though the US-Canada border may not open, we will cruise in the San Juan Islands if that is all that is available.  These island are quite beautiful and there is still a chance of seeing whales.  Emerald Star is in Anacortes and is waiting for us.
